MY GO-TO GREEN SMOOTHIE

I am the kind of person who get's hangry. Like, really hangry. So this smoothie is the perfect mid-morning snack. Plus, it keeps me full until lunchtime so that I don't end up snacking on lot's of unhealthy stuff. I like to buy most of the ingredients fresh, but then I store them in the freezer so that it is quick and convenient to throw everything into a blender and carry on with my day. I usually make my smoothie in the morning and pack it in an insulated mug so that I always have it ready to go whenever hunger strikes. Oh and bonus, baby N loves it too. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS (Makes 1 Serving):

  • 1 cup Packed Fresh Spinach Leaves

  • 1/2 cup Mixed Frozen Blueberries and Strawberries

  • 1/4 cup Frozen Cranberries (I always buy them fresh and keep them in the freezer)

  • 1/4 Avacado (I cut up fresh avacado and keep them in the freezer)

  • 1 Tbsp Coconut Butter (my favorites are Singapore Coconut Company and Ceres Organics

  • 1 Tbsp Hemp Powder (or whichever protein powder you prefer)

  • 1 tsp Flax Seeds

  • 1 tsp Chia Seeds

  • 1 tsp Cinnamon (use a good quality cinnamon to get the best flavor)

  • 1 cup of Pure Coconut Water

  • If you like your smoothie on the sweeter-side, you can add a tsp of honey or maple syrup but I prefer smoothies which are less sweet

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Place the fresh spinach in the blender first (it helps the smoothie to blend a bit more easily) and then add the rest of the ingredients to the blender.
  2. Blend until the smoothie is creamy and completely combined. If you prefer your smoothie to be slightly less thick, you can always add more liquid (water, coconut water, nut milk, etc.)
