A Must-See Temple in Telok Ayer, Singapore
A candid moment caught on camera...
Sometimes life just has a way of inspiring us and quite often, it is the simple things. I had been wanting to spend the day wandering around in Chinatown and taking pictures for quite some time and finally the opportunity had presented itself.
It was a Sunday morning and the city was still except for the clanging of coffee cups and breakfast being served at the restaurants along Telok Ayer Street. Luck must have been on our side that morning because not only did we catch a glimpse of a beautiful bride and groom taking pictures at the Thian Hock King Temple on their wedding day, but Yip Yew Chong, one of Singapore's street art pioneers, was on Amoy Street quietly painting his mural (for more about YYC, please visit his webpage ). The mural illustrates the life of Singapore's early Hokkien immigrants and their cultural and societal developments through the years. Unfortunately I didn't have a wide angle lens with me so I wasn't able to do the mural justice the justice it deserves, but it was so much fun watching Yip Yew Chong in action that I eventually became lost in the moment.
